PRINT DIRECTIONS
The Wee Bothy offers glorious views across open fields towards Traprain Law, North Berwick Law and the Bass Rock. But despite its peaceful rural seclusion, the cottage is equally well located to let you indulge in a spot of local holiday shopping, explore Scotland's capital Edinburgh or enjoy the wealth of activities and environments on offer across East Lothian.
- Haddington and the A1 – 2½ miles
- Gifford – 3 miles
- North Berwick – 12 miles
- Edinburgh – 20 miles
- Edinburgh Airport – 30 miles
In the historic and picturesque village of Gifford you'll find two pubs, a newsagent/Post Office and a Co-op. Haddington itself has a large Tesco, and regular buses run from the market square in all directions. There's also a train service between Edinburgh and North Berwick that passes through both Drem and Longniddry, five and six miles beyond.
Directions
Take the Abbotsview Junction off the A1 and into Haddington (A6093). Follow the road down Hardgate and straight over the crossroads by the lights. Then, instead of following the right-hand bend into the High Street, continue straight on towards Gifford and the B6368. You'll pass Maitlandfield House on your right, then soon after will go over the bridge by the lights, and out of Haddington.
Follow the signs for Gifford (B6368) past Lennoxlove House on your right. After a long straight, the road turns sharp left, and then sharp right. Take the next left (signposted Morham, Garvald and Whittingehame) and, about 600m ahead, you'll see a left turn to Rentonhall Farm. Follow the drive, turning right and up beside the farmhouse. The Wee Bothy holiday cottage is at the end of the track on the right.
